I stop by my local scuba diving shop occasionally to get a quick dose of diving conversation and to see if there is anything new in the market that I might not be able to live without. Each time I stop by the shop I ask the manager, Randy, how he is doing and he always remarkets, “Living the life”. I think to myself about how lucky he is to have chosen such a career that he can talk diving 24/7. It’s obvious that Randy enjoys his job and wouldn’t consider doing something different.
I’ve been asked several times over the years what I’d do differently with my life if I won the Lotto and I contemplate it for a moment and then comment … “nothing”. They ask inquisitively, “Nothing”? I’m sure they are surprised at my answer but I truly love what I’m doing. Like Randy I could talk 24/7 about real estate in all it iterations.
What about you, are you living the live? Do you wake up each morning energized to head off to your chosen avocation? Could you honestly say if asked what you’d do differently if you won the Lotto, nothing. If not, it is time to take stock in what you are doing and what you want to do. Life is too short to be trudging off to work each day to a job or business that you no longer enjoy. I feel Frank Sinatra said it well, “Live each day like it’s your last because someday it will be”.
So if you aren’t living the life, get out there and do it. You may not feel that you can afford to take the risk to do something different. Truthfully, you can’t afford not to. The impact that stress has on your body is tremendous and with time leads to stroke or heart attack. Is that what you want for yourself and family?
